Terms of Use & License

Last updated October 22, 2026.

These terms cover how you can use the downloads you buy from Bow Tie Music LLC and the free resources on bowtiemusic.net.

Your license (one teacher)

Each purchase is a license for one teacher. You may:

  • Use the materials with all of your own students, in every class you teach, for as long as you teach.
  • Perform the songs at your school’s concerts, programs, and assemblies.
  • Print and copy pages for your own students.
  • Share recordings of your students’ performances with your school community.
  • Keep backup copies for yourself.

Please don’t

  • Share the files with other teachers. Each teacher needs their own license, and every license helps keep these resources coming.
  • Post the files, slideshows, or lyric videos where the public can download them (open websites, shared drives, marketplaces).
  • Sell or claim the materials as your own.

Schools and districts

Buying for more than one teacher? Each teacher needs a license: change Licenses in your cart to the number of teachers. Schools can pay by purchase order at checkout. For a building or district license, use the Contact page.

Free videos and resources

The videos on this site are free to show in your classroom. Please share links to them rather than copying or re-uploading them.

Sharing your videos

Teachers can share their own classroom videos on the Share a Video page. If you do:

  • It stays yours. You keep every right to your video. You let Bow Tie Music show it on bowtiemusic.net in YouTube’s player, with its title, thumbnail, your description, your name, school district, state, and a link to your channel, and link to it from the site.
  • You’re responsible for it. You confirm that it’s your own video (the site asks you to prove it with a short code in its YouTube description), that it follows your school’s media policy and that you have every permission needed to share it, including from the families of students shown or heard and for any music in it.
  • We choose what’s added. Every video is reviewed first, and sending one doesn’t mean it will be added. Bow Tie Music can remove any video at any time, for any reason.
  • You can take it down. Ask on the Contact page and we’ll remove it. If you delete it or make it private on YouTube, it stops playing here too.

Videos shared by other teachers belong to them, and they’re responsible for what’s in them.

The fine print

Bow Tie Music LLC owns the copyright to its original songs, materials, and videos. Folk songs and dances in the public domain stay public domain; our arrangements, recordings, and teaching materials are ours. The site and downloads are provided as they are, and Bow Tie Music LLC isn’t liable for more than what you paid. These terms are governed by Indiana law.
