Connecting picture books to music is a fun and creative way of encouraging children in their musical and literary development. I first found this song through the children's TV show Yo Gabba Gabba, originally performed by Sal Masekela. Kindergarten Hello Song- “Hello World” from Yo Gabba Gabba
Boone Meadow's "Fourth Grade Music Celebration" was performed on May 16th, 2024 and is an example of a music program based on the Orff Schulwerk philosophy of music education. Students sang songs, danced folk dances, and played mallet instrument pieces from Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman's books "Music For Children." This program was directed by William C Doublestein.

“Silly Sally” by Aubrey Wood is a fun book ready to be sung! I turned it into a SOL LA MI song in C major, and I accompanied my students with the melody in the right hand and I IV V chords in the left hand. This video features a group of first graders from Boone Meadow Elementary and was filmed during the 2023-2024 school year. This video shows how I make sure my students receive a well rounded music education that includes singing, instruments, moving, dancing, theory and performance, while also connecting music to disciplines like reading, history, art, math, science and technology.
