The Kings and Queens Dance

“The Kings and Queens Dance” is a stately and elegant longways set folk dance composed in the style of an old English country dance. It is one of my all-time favorite dances to call for children in lower elementary. This dance can be found in the book Sashay The Donut by The New England Dancing Masters, and the song “On The Danforth/Thomas Shrug March” as recorded by NEDM on the album Other Side of the Tracks can be used for accompaniment. The video below features students from Boone Meadow Elementary, led by their teacher William C Doublestein, during the 2023-2024 school year.
