“This Old Man” on Tubano Drums

This fun activity is perfect for students to combine singing and drumming. I had the kids play "knick knack paddy whack give a dog a bone" on the edge of the drum (tone sound) and "rol-ling home" in the middle of the drum (bass sound). The clip art was used to remind them of the rhyming word to each verse. Students in this video example are in second grade, and I accompanied them in the key of C. This activity is appropriate for elementary students of all ages, but especially those in the lower grades.
